The short version

We don’t come from a long line of beekeepers. We didn’t inherit a farm. And we’re not here to romanticize honey. We’re here to raise the bar—on quality, transparency, and what honey can be.

From Canoe Cove to the North Shore

Canoe Cove Honey began on a farm along Prince Edward Island’s south shore. When we purchased the business, we didn’t take over the farm—just the bees, the name and the potential it carried. Today, our bees thrive in the wild landscapes of PEI’s eastern north shore, foraging from coastal fields, forest edges, and blooming pastures.

We kept the name Canoe Cove Honey to honour the brand’s beginnings, understanding that how we work, what we value, and what we’re building—is entirely our own.

We're not generational beekeepers

We didn’t grow up around hives. We chose this work because it offered a rare opportunity: to build something meaningful, stay grounded in nature, and create a product that’s both physical and functional.

We’ve learned, our “outsider” perspective is an asset. It gives us permission to question the industry status quo, rethink outdated processes, and focus on the things that actually matter: bee health, honey quality, and ecosystem impact.

We’re not here to carry on tradition. We’re here to raise the standard.

We treat honey like it matters

In many commercial operations, honey is treated as a byproduct—something that gets harvested, heated, filtered, and rushed to market. We don’t see it that way.

We treat honey the same way we treat our bees: with respect.

Every jar we produce comes from small-batch harvests, carefully handled to retain the properties that make raw honey special. We use minimal processing, low-temperature techniques, and intentional creaming methods to preserve the enzymes, antioxidants, and floral volatiles that make honey a living ingredient—not just a sweetener.

  • Our Commitment

We care deeply about pollinators—both honey bees and native species—and the role they play in sustaining life and agriculture on PEI. We believe that good honey can’t exist without a healthy ecosystem, and that our job is to support both.

This isn’t just about running a business. It’s about doing things better—smarter, more sustainably, and with full transparency.

  • Our Vision

We’re building something bigger than a honey brand.

We’re developing our own testing systems to better understand the health-supporting compounds in PEI honey. We want to learn what makes each harvest unique—and how to preserve that freshness over time.

We believe that better data leads to better decisions—for our bees, our products, and our customers.
